Tara Brach

Tara Brach, PhD, is an internationally known meditation teacher, author of best-selling books Radical Acceptance and True Refuge, and of her latest book, Radical Compassion. More than 1.7 million people each month tune into her podcast, which addresses the value of meditation in relieving emotional suffering and serving spiritual awakening.   

A clinical psychologist for more than 20 years, Brach leads accredited workshops for mental health professionals, as well as retreats for wider audiences at centers in the United States and Europe. She and her colleague Jack Kornfield offer a Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Training Certification Program that is currently serving participants from more than 50 countries around the world.

Brach has taught classes to United States Congress members and staff, to judges of the D.C. Superior Court, and at the Smithsonian. In addition to her writing and public teaching, she has fostered efforts to bring principles and practices of mindfulness to issues of equity, inclusivity and diversity, peace, and environmental sustainability.

As founder and senior teacher of the Insight Community of Washington, she offers a weekly class to the general population and has helped to bring meditation into schools and prisons, as well as to underserved populations around the Washington, D.C. area.
