Harville Hendrix
Harville Hendrix, PhD, with his wife, Helen LaKelly Hunt, cocreated Imago Relationship Therapy and developed the concept of “conscious partnership.” Their partnership and collaboration has resulted in numerous books on intimate relationships and parenting. Together, they cofounded Imago Relationships International, a nonprofit organization that has trained more than 2,000 therapists and educators in 51 countries around the world. They also cofounded Relationships First, which helps people learn how to connect through their differences.
Hendrix holds a doctorate in psychology and theology from the University of Chicago and has received an honorary doctorate and two distinguished service awards. He has appeared on many national television shows to publicize Imago Relationship Therapy and the conscious relationship, including 17 guest appearances on the Oprah Winfrey Show (through which he earned a spot on Unforgettable! Oprah’s Top 20 Shows list). In addition to being featured on many radio shows, Hendrix’s work with Imago Relationship Therapy has been written about in numerous newspapers and magazines internationally, including O, The Oprah Magazine, where he was referred to as the “marriage whisperer.” He also is a member of the Redbook Marriage Institute, serving on the magazine’s team of marriage experts.
Hendrix, along with his wife Helen LaKelly Hunt, are the coauthors of Getting the Love You Want: A Guide for Couples, a New York Times best seller that has sold more than 4 million copies worldwide. They also coauthored Making Marriage Simple: Ten Relationship-Saving Truths; The Space Between, Giving the Love That Heals: A Guide for Parents, also a best-seller; Receiving Love: Transform Your Relationship by Letting Yourself Be Loved, plus three meditation books, two study guides, and a DVD-based Relationship Toolbox for Couples. Their books are published in more than 60 languages.
Hendrix and Hunt have six children and live in Dallas.
